The Essential Supplies That You Need For Summer Camp

summer camps

It might only be spring, but summer is just around the corner. And with that, countless children and adults are gearing up to have the summer of their lives. That’s right: it’s almost time for summer camp.

Every year, almost 12 million children and adults attend camp in the United States. In many ways, summer camp is an entity frozen in time. In our highly technological world, kids spend over seven and a half hours a day on average glued to their television, computer, and smartphone screens. Along with that, only one in three children gets the CDC recommended 60 minutes of activity per day. That being said, summer camp is continually helping kids to challenge themselves through fun activities and build friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

But before you board the bus to day camp, you might want to stop and prepare yourself. Like any other venture, summer camp requires essential supplies to make fun in the summer sun the safest and most comfortable possible. If you or your child are attending summer camp in the coming months, here are a few supplies you might need:

Bathing Suit
Almost all summer camps have a water source available to swim in. That being said, stocking up on a bathing suit or two will be a sound investment.

Sunscreen and Protective Apparel
While nothing feels better than the sun on your skin, the ultra-violet rays can pose major risks to vulnerable skin. To keep skin safe from sun damage, stock up on high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats.

Water Bottle and Snacks
Playing in the heat all day can take a major toll on your body, leading to dehydration and more. Make sure you pack healthy snacks such as granola, fruits, and nuts to fuel your summer fun. Be sure to bring a water bottle and to refill it regularly, too. Staying hydrated is extremely important!
