Our counselor-to-camper ratio is kept at just 6:1 (and even tighter at 3:1 during water activities like surfing) so that every child gets vigilant supervision.
On the shore and in the water, we double up protection: licensed lifeguards watch the ocean while our counselors stay right beside the kids during swims and surf lessons. We also use bright-colored FBS rash guard uniforms so that campers are easily visible at all times on the beach. Flexible Hermosa Beach Summer Camp Scheduling & Hassle-Free Logistics
We know summers are busy for Hermosa Beach families. That’s why FBS offers maximum flexibility when it comes to scheduling. Our 2026 camp season runs from June 15 to August 21, and you can enroll your child week by week – no full-summer commitments required. Pick and choose the weeks that work for your family’s calendar; weeks do not need to be consecutive. Plans change? No problem – we allow you to adjust your dates (with adequate notice) without any penalty, so you’re never locked in if something comes up. This level of flexibility makes it easy to fit camp around vacations, sports leagues, or other summer activities.
Our day camp operates Monday through Friday, roughly 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM (drop-off between 9:00–9:30 and pick-up between 3:00–3:30). Need a longer day? We’ve got you covered. Extended care is available as a convenient add-on, keeping your child engaged and supervised until 4:30 PM or even 5:30 PM, depending on your needs. Many Hermosa Beach parents with busy work schedules love this option – your child can enjoy extra playtime at camp while you finish your workday.
We also offer optional bus transportation for added convenience, with supervised bus stops in Cheviot Hills and Mar Vista for morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off.
